Use Your Step Up for Students Scholarship at Osceola Flag Football

Osceola Flag Football is proud to be an approved Step Up for Students provider, giving eligible scholarship families the opportunity to use their education funds for our youth flag football programs.

Whether your child is stepping onto the field for the first time or preparing for middle school or high school competition, OFF provides a safe, inclusive, and exciting environment where every player develops confidence, teamwork, leadership, and athletic skills.

How do I register?

Simply click any Register Now button on our website and complete the online registration process.

If you are using a Step Up for Students scholarship:

1. Click Register Now and complete your child's registration on the OFF website.

2. At checkout, enter the promo code StepUp.

   • This promo code does not provide a discount. It simply bypasses the website's payment requirement, so you are not charged while your scholarship payment is processed through Step Up for Students.

3. Complete your registration to reserve your child's spot.

4. Log in to your EMA (Education Market Assistant) account and submit a payment request for Osceola Flag Football. To do this Search for Osceola Flag Football - Harmony Middle School in the Physical Education category, select the approved service and Reserve Funds.

5. OFF will review and approve your payment request in EMA.

6. Step Up for Students will process the payment and remit funds directly to OFF once all requirements have been met.

FAQ's

1. Who can play?

OFF welcomes Boys and Girls in Grades K–12. Players of all experience levels are encouraged to join. If your child has never played before, no problem! OFF welcomes beginners and experienced players alike. Our league is designed to help every athlete learn, improve, and enjoy the game.

2. Are there tryouts?

No. OFF is a recreational league where every player is welcome. There are no tryouts or cuts. Competitive divisions offered where available. 

3. What equipment is required?

Every registered player receives: An Official YFFL Compression Jersey, Shorts, and Flag Belt. Mouthguard and Cleats are Required. Players should bring a water bottle and sunscreen.

4. How are teams formed?

Teams are created through a player evaluation and draft process designed to promote balanced competition. Player evaluations are for new players and free agents only.

5. When are practices?

Practice schedules are determined by each Volunteer Coach and are typically held once per week at a location that works best for the team.

6. When are games played?

Game times vary by division.  All games are held at the location chosen during registration. Games are scheduled for approximately one hour at 10:00am, 11:00am, and 12:00pm on Saturdays at HMS. At the FRAC games are held on Friday evenings at 6:30pm, 7:30pm, and 8:30pm. The complete schedule is shared with Coaches and Families prior to Opening Day. 

7. Can girls play?

Absolutely! OFF proudly welcomes both boys and girls and offers divisions for athletes in Grades K–12. Girls divisions offered when available. Teams are co-ed.

11. Is flag football safe?

Yes. Flag football is a non-contact sport focused on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. OFF is committed to providing a safe, organized, and positive playing environment.  At Osceola Flag Football, player safety is our highest priority. Flag football is designed as a non-contact sport, meaning tackling is not permitted. Instead of tackling, defenders stop a play by removing the ball carrier's flag. 

While tackling is prohibited, parents should understand that incidental contact can still occur during normal game play. As athletes run, change direction, reach for flags, or compete for the ball, accidental collisions, trips, or player-to-player contact may happen.  Although no sport is completely free of the possibility of injury, OFF is committed to providing a safe, fun, and supportive environment where athletes can learn, compete, and grow with confidence.
